Robert Oppenheimer was the head of the Los Alamos Laboratory and the “Manhattan Project,” which developed the first nuclear weapons. After World War II, Oppenheimer became the chairman of the influential General Advisory Committee of the newly established U.S. Atomic Energy Commission.
